It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the end of our “exping the world” journey. Despite every effort we have made to find a path forward, the challenging business environment have led us to this tough decision. Effective Dec 31, 2024, 23:59(GMT+8), exping app will no longer be available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or any other app marketplace, and the exping web will also be inaccessible.

This is not a step we ever hoped to take, and we share in your sadness as we say goodbye. In line with our original commitment, you will be able to access and export your data right up until the final day of service.

We are incredibly thankful for the community. Each pin on a map represented a story, and we are honored to have been a part of those stories. To all of our exp+ subscribers, we are especially grateful for your trust and support. We will be issuing refunds for any services that cannot be fulfilled.

We also want to take this moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our team. Thank you for your unwavering dedication and for making this “To the Moon” journey one we will never forget. Together, we’ve built something truly wonderful.

Although we have to mark our last pin, we hope the places you’ve explored, the experiences you’ve mapped, and the stories you’ve expressed on exping, will continue to inspire your adventures.

Key Reminders Before We Say Goodbye

Although exping’s journey is coming to an end, we remain committed to fulfilling our promises to users. Here is the information you should be aware:

Membership Subscriptions and Renewals

October 25, 00:00 (GMT+8): Starting from October 25, 2024, exping will stop accepting new subscriptions and renewals for exp+ memberships. All services will remain fully operational until December 31, 2024, 23:59 (GMT+8).

Membership Refund

Now until November 15, 23:59 (GMT+8): Users who have subscribed exp+ "Annual Subscription" that extends beyond the shutdown date can apply for a refund. The refund process will follow the rules of each app marketplace. Please refer to the "Membership Refund Guide" for more details.

Operations Shutdown

December 31, 23:59 (GMT+8): Starting from October 25, 2024, exping will stop accepting new subscriptions and renewals for exp+ memberships. All services will remain fully operational until December 31, 2024, 23:59 (GMT+8).

Please make sure to export any maps or data you wish to save by December 31, 2024, 23:59 (GMT+8), to avoid losing them. For instructions on how to export your data, refer to the "How to Export My Data" guide below.


How to Export My Data?

You will be able to access and export your data in the exping app and on the exping web. Supported formats: Excel, HTML, Markdown, GeoJSON, KML

To ensure data integrity, it is recommended to export to Excel and HTML at the same time as backup.

How to Export Map Data in the exping App?

  1. Go to "Settings" from the "Profile" section and tap on "Export"
  2. Choose the map you want to export and tap "Export"
  3. Pick the format you need
  4. Tap "Export" to save

Membership Refund Guide

This refund is granted exclusively to users with an active exp+ annual subscription at the time exping ceases operations.

iOS

If you recently purchased a subscription from the Apple App Store, you can apply for a refund from Apple. For details, please see: App Store

Android

If you have recently purchased a subscription from the Google Play Store, you can apply for a refund from Google. For details, please see: Play Store

If you purchased your subscription from another app marketplace, please submit the following refund request form between October 25 and November 15, 2024.

Refund form

The deadline for form submission is on November 15, 23:59 (GMT+8).

After the refund eligibility is verified, exping will initiate refunds from December 1 to December 31. The specific refund progress will be based on actual conditions.

For users who have purchased exp+ "annual subscription", you can continue to use exp+ membership services until December 31, 2024. For users whose subscription has not expired, we will convert and refund according to the remaining membership usage time, and the calculation method is:( Remaining available days/365)*membership fee
